would love to experience collecting a swarm. if anyone doesn't mind me tagging along (and helping), hit me up. Needing to repopulate my hive for the coming season, need to learn alternative ways other than paying for them.

Where are you located? I have picked up swarms in West county (and as far as Lake St. Louis and St. Charles) You may want to contact the people on the swarm list closest to your location if that is not convenient.

OrionsEchoes-
I live south of you, in Festus, and I hope to catch a swarm or two this spring. Send me your contact info privately, and maybe we can go on a swarm call together. Do you have something to capture them in? I'm rigging up a cardboard box with some screened holes (but otherwise sealed) to "catch" them in. Soon, I'll always keep that and my bee jacket/gloves/etc. always in the trunk of the car. Judy |

Is there an active swarm list for the st. louis area? If so, I would like to be on it.

The club has a swarm list you should be able to get on. You can also list on
http://www.bees-on-the-net.com/bee-removal.html http://www.ebeehoney.com/beeswarms.html http://www.findabeekeeper.com/ You'll get lots of calls. But, I think we are getting to the back end of swarm season here. Two weeks ago I was getting 2 - 3 calls a day. More than I could respond to and some of them needing cutouts that I don't want to take on. |
